House Races – Colorado 2024
Background:
Democrats now hold all major statewide offices and a small 5 to 3 seat majority in the House Delegation.
There are no Senate races in Colorado this year but several of the House races are interesting.
Key Aspects of 2024 House Races
· There are three open House seats in Colorado, CO 3, CO 4, and CO 5, all currently held by Republicans.
· The incumbent in CO 3 Lauren Boebert has move from CO 3 to CO 4 a more favorable district. Boebert won the CO 4 primary in a crowded field with 43.7 percent of the vote.
· Two seats CO 3 and CO 8 were virtual tossups in 2022 and will be extremely close in 2024.
· CO 5 an open R seat and CO 7 with an incumbent D could become interesting as the 2022 winning percentage was 56 percent.
· CO 1 and CO 2 are solidly Democrat seats.
Conclusion: Two races CO 3 currently held by Republicans and CO 8 currently held by Democrats will be nail biters. The Democrats will also target CO 4 and the Republicans will also target CO 7. CO 4 featuring Lauren Boebert after moving from CO 3 will get national attention.
