Most Democrats are not paying attention to the Missouri Senate race.
The focus of the Democrat is on states with a Democrat incumbent (a natural priority) and two states that are increasingly red, Florida, and Texas.
My view is the Democrats have a better shot electing Lucas Kunce in Missouri than they do winning Senate contests in Florida and Texas. The Democrat party does not have a strong field of House candidates in Florida and Texas and has in recent years overstated the likelihood of victory in statewide races.
The Democrats have a real shot in Missouri both because Lucas Kunce is a gifted candidate and the incumbent Senator Josh Hawley is extreme.
Kunce grew up in Missouri, served in the Marines, emphasizes health care and the environment, supports both Israel and Ukraine, and supports abortion rights.
Hawley favors ending all aid to Ukraine, has not supported improvements to health care or the environment and supported the insurrection and vehemently opposes abortion.
A Missouri court recently ruled that a pro-abortion amendment should be taken off the ballot. Hopefully, this ruling will be overturned.
It is important for Democrats to compete nationwide, not just in blue areas. Lucas Kunce provides the Democrats their best shot to win a Senate race and get a role in a red state.
